2018 End of Season Update

Stonemen Families,

First and foremost, thanks for a wonderful 2017/2018 season.  We were blessed with some great coaches who turned in some great seasons for their players and families.  A few highlights to share are:

  1. We had 16 teams including 2 high school teams,

  2. As an organization we were over .500 in our leagues (117 – 103, not including tournaments),

  3. 2 teams won their leagues and

  4. We had a lot of 1st, 2nd or 3rd place finishes in tournaments around the state.

Regarding the 2018/2019 season, tryouts came quick and as of today we have announced 12 teams.  We have 1 team close to wrapping up its roster as well as the potential to have another. Look for your head coach to reach out soon if not already on your team, coaches and next steps.

Tryouts are tough, for the second year in a row we saw well over 200 registered players and many walk ups interested in becoming a Stonemen.  Unfortunately, we only have 3 fields and we want all teams to be competitive, therefore we were not able to place everyone on a team.

As I look further into 2018, we will start to talk further about the use of our indoor facility, trips for our U12 teams, board positions, what our uniforms will look like, how we can help high school players with the WIAA moving to spring baseball and how we can further develop our players.

With respect to board positions, we vote annually in September and are always looking for help.  As an organization, we are one of the least expensive as well as one of the only select baseball programs where volunteer time is pretty much non-existent.  We ask coaches to help with our annual Squirts Academy in the summer and U11 parents to lead our annual Hit-A-Thon in June. Any help beyond that including Facebook, communications, website, equipment or spirit wear is greatly appreciated.  Please consider being a part of our board and let me know if you are interested.

With that said, thanks for a wonderful season, enjoy August and I wish you and your player good luck in the upcoming school year!
